About Market North

Last updated: October 20, 2026

Market North is an independent educational site. It uses cards to translate the macro data that moves US stocks, gold and silver into a sense of direction: where an indicator stands now, and what that level usually means for each asset.

Who runs it

Market North is run independently by an individual based in Ontario, Canada. It has no institutional backing and is not affiliated with any financial institution, broker or data provider.

Why it exists

Market data sites tell you what happened: what CPI came in at, where the 10-year yield went. For someone just starting out, the harder question is what it means. That translation is what this site tries to do, in both English and Chinese.

How it works

Every live figure comes from FRED at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, with the underlying data published by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Bureau of Economic Analysis and the Federal Reserve. Each number is labeled with the period it covers and the date it was released.

Card colors follow published thresholds. They are editorial judgments, each one is listed on the methodology page, and you can check every color against the number on the card. Any change to a threshold is recorded in the methodology page’s change log.

Cards without a reliable free data source are shown with a dashed outline and no sample numbers. The site does not publish market forecasts, and does not make them up.

What it is not

It is not a quote site and shows no real-time prices. It is not investment advice and does not tell you what to buy or sell. It does not forecast prices. There are no ads, no paid content, and no payment from any organization mentioned on the site.

Contact and corrections

If you find an error in the data or an explanation, or have a suggestion, email hello@getmarketnorth.com. Confirmed errors are corrected, and any change to how colors are judged is recorded on the methodology page.
